Spanish by birth and Venetian by adoption, Mariano Fortuny was a painter, an etcher, a sculptor, a photographer, a fabrics creative and a fashion designer.
He made his own paints, dyes, brushes and machinery, designed his own lamps and furniture. Eventually he created the innovative textiles that became world-famous and are still manufactured today.
